Biden commended the idea of the Ukrainian authorities to release the 15 prisoners

Vice-President of the USA Joe Biden spoke with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman, discussing with them a number of the key for Ukraine’s future issues.
This is stated in the official report office of the Vice-President of the USA, writes UKRINFORM.
“The leaders reiterated their unwavering support for full implementation of the Minsk agreements and stressed the need for resumption of the ceasefire and the unimpeded access of OSCE observers to allow further withdrawal of troops along the contact line”, – stated in the message.
Biden expressed support for the Ukrainian government’s decision to unilaterally release the 15 people taken prisoner during the conflict in the hope that Russia and the separatists it backs, will make the same gesture of goodwill in response that will boost the process of exchange of prisoners, provided for by the Minsk agreement.
The leaders agreed that sanctions against Russia should leave its effect until Russia fully complied with its obligations under “Minsk”.
The Vice President expressed hope that the Association Agreement will be ratified in the coming months, and that the Ukrainians will soon be able to enjoy visa-free travel to the EU.
The parties also discussed the economic reform program of Ukraine and stressed the importance of progress in the reforms necessary for the fulfillment of Ukraine’s obligations to the IMF.
The Vice President also stressed the critical importance of combating corruption.
