Night blackout part of Kiev could happen due to cyber attacks — “Ukrenergo”

Crash automation at the substation “North” could lead to two things.
An automatic failure on substation “Northern”, which led to a blackout of several districts of Kiev around midnight on 18 December, probably due to a hacker attack.
Among other possible causes is faulty hardware. This was reported in the “Ukrenergo”, transfers “Radio Freedom”.

Currently, the investigation continues into the cause of the accident. Management of all objects “Ukrenergo”, have the automatic control system until that was transferred to the local level. At the local level, they will be held until the case is closed.
Note that 17 Dec late in the evening due to failure of automation has been completely de-energized substation “Severnaya” (Novi Petrivtsi).
As a consequence, soon in selected districts of Kiev lost the light. In particular, no light left the house on separate streets Obolon, Minsk array, Husbandman, Borschagivka, Akademgorodok, as well as in Gostomel, Bucha and Irpen near the capital. In the morning of 18 December, the power grid was restored.
