Glad urged the foreign Ministry to “call on the carpet,” German Ambassador
In the Parliament demanding an explanation from the German Ambassador Ernst Reichel after his statements about the possibility to hold elections in the Donbass in the presence of the Russian military.
This was stated by MP Hanna hopko from the rostrum of the Parliament, calling for a boycott of the reception at the Ambassador on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
“Today, on behalf of the Committee for European integration, foreign Affairs Committee and from the Ukrainian Parliament we would like to Express their indignation about the statements of German Ambassador Ernst Reichel, who said that the elections in the Donbass can be held in the presence of Russian troops,” she said, noting that expresses the position of the parliamentary factions of the BPP and people’s front.
CSAC also noted that the statement of the diplomat contradicts the official position of Germany and the efforts of Chancellor Angela Merkel in resolving the conflict in the Donbass, as well as the Minsk agreements.
“The foreign Ministry should immediately call the Ambassador of Germany to hear the refutation of such a statement, and the Minister Klimkin should report to Parliament on the results of this conversation with the Ambassador. We invite the Ambassador to go to the plant and see the real situation. See, what then is the position regarding the elections in the Donbass in the presence of Russian troops”, – he added.
Separately, she thanked Germany, especially Angela Merkel and some German MPs, who were on Donbass, a policy of sanctions against Russia.
“Parliament’s position is very clear – no elections in the Donbass will not be until Russian troops are out of Ukraine and while Ukraine will not take control over the Ukrainian-Russian border”, – summed up the CSAC.
We will remind, earlier the Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine Ernst reichl in an interview with one of the editions said that the elections in Donbass can be done even under the supervision of the Russian military. As an example, the diplomat recalled how last parliamentary elections in the GDR.
“Occurred in the presence of the Western group of Soviet troops and the then Communist regime in the GDR. But the election led to his shift,” he said.
