Ukrainian military strengthened their positions counter to the assault by fighters of Avdeevki – Poroshenko
Ukrainian fighters managed to improve its position in key sector of the front near the occupied Donetsk after a counter-attack in the area of Avdeevka.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, UNIAN reports.
“From the 29th of January, the enemy launched dozens of attempts of storm of positions of the Ukrainian military. They attacked us because they wanted to dislodge Ukrainian troops from Avdeyevka industrial zone, which controls an important crossroads and stopped the movement of enemy equipment”, – he stressed.
According to the President, Russian forces used all types of artillery, rocket systems of volley fire, mortars, tanks, and other types of weapons that are strictly prohibited by the accords.
“But each time, the invaders were forced to retreat. Moreover, as a result of the attacks of the enemy counterattacked our military and strengthened our position in the area, which has become a key to the outskirts of the occupied Donetsk”, – the President added.
We will remind, earlier people’s Deputy Dmitry Tymchuk reported that the militants are preparing an offensive to capture lost positions in Avdeyevka direction. The command of the “DNR” wants to return to the position of “Diamond”, “Almaz-1 and Almaz-2”.
