Chaly assured that the Congress did not reduce assistance to Ukraine in the Pentagon’s budget
The bill of the house of representatives of the United States, which provides for the allocation of Ukraine $ 150 million. military aid is only part of the previously approved 350 million total aid budget of the Pentagon, the rest of which will be allocated after October 1, 2017.
This was stated by Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly, writes UKRINFORM.
“There is a budget 2017 – the current act, which set a $ 350 million assistance (Ukraine – ed.) in the 2017 fiscal year. Next (in the legislative process of the United States – ed.) decisions to implement this decision. What is seen now is 150 million. to be provided before 1 October of the current year”, – said the Ukrainian diplomat.
The remainder of the available 350 million, he said, will arrive after 1 Oct. “That is, those 350 million (in the U.S. defense budget on support of Ukraine – ed.). Therefore, it is a technical question, there are no changes in attitudes” – said the Ukrainian Ambassador.
In addition to assistance from the Pentagon, there is also support for Ukraine’s programme of the US State Department. They also can be spent in installments over the next year.
The representative of Ukraine stressed the importance of programs that are provided by these funds, not uplas.
“All figures should be perceived through the understanding of the decision-making processes in the United States. As for this case, concerns have not yet”, – concluded the Ukrainian Ambassador.
