Yanukovych as a suspect plan to interrogate in Russia – Gorbatyuk
The interrogation of the ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, who is hiding in Russia, may be held on the territory of the Russian Federation. A petition to the Russian Prosecutor General’s office is preparing the Department of special investigations of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
Yanukovych needs to interrogate a suspect in two criminal proceedings – opposition protests during Euromaidan and the creation of a criminal gang. This broadcast channel “112 Ukraine” said the head of this Department Sergey Gorbatyuk.
“Those documents (letter from the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation about the readiness to consider the possibility of questioning Yanukovych on the territory of the Russian Federation in the presence of Ukrainian law enforcers) were obtained in the investigation of criminal proceedings on suspicion of Viktor Yanukovych of treason. “As to those charges which are investigated by our Department, the corresponding summons in each production, where it is reported about suspicion, particularly in the opposition protest actions and in the establishment and activities of criminal groups,” – said Gorbatyuk.
The Russian side will decide who will conduct the interrogation on the territory of the Russian Federation.
“We just say that such investigations should be to provide the suspect the interrogation of the circumstances in which he is accused. And in what way, under international treaties, decides foreign side or by yourself, or invite investigators, or offer to conduct a video conference,” – said Gorbatyuk.
Earlier lawyers of Yanukovych hinted that pull the GPU to the court because of the refusal to question him in Russia.
