BBC reporters filmed a dangerous eruption of the Etna volcano from a very close distance

A BBC team and several tourists were injured in the result of the eruption of mount Etna in Sicily, being very close to the epicenter of the eruption. Video of the incident appeared online.

About eight people were injured – head injuries, burns, cuts and bruises. Some of them rescuers evacuated from the mountain, BBC reports.

Journalists are normal, but admit that it was very scary. BBC reporter said that the volcanologist who was at that time at the eruption site, told her that it was the most dangerous incident in his entire 30-year career.

Etna, the most active in Europe, the volcano is under constant monitoring and, as a rule, the eruption poses no danger to the population.

The current stage activity of Etna started in the last month, but in recent days, specialists recorded increase in the intensity of emission of lava.

Before Etna “slept” for about nine months. The previous activity was observed in may 2016.
