Poroshenko withdrew from Kivalov, the Venice Commission and replaced him

Ex-MP and the MP from “Opposition block” Serhiy Kivalov is no longer a member of the European Commission “For democracy through law” (Venice Commission) of Ukraine.

He expired the term of office, so the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree to release him from duty. The President also exempted from duties of two Deputy Kivalov, the Venice Commission, Sergey Holovaty and Vladimir Pilipenko.

By another decree the President appointed (by consent) Serhiy Holovaty to the place which was previously occupied by Kivalov – a member of the Venice Commission from Ukraine.

Holovaty is the founder of the Ukrainian legal Foundation, member-correspondent of National Academy of legal Sciences of Ukraine. He was a people’s Deputy of Ukraine six times, the Minister of justice three times. Co-author of final revisions of the Declaration on state sovereignty of Ukraine and the act of proclamation of independence of Ukraine. Worked actively on the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, co-author of the Civil code, code of administrative procedure.
