UOC-KP is preparing for a possible granting of autocephaly in July of this year.

In the case of creating a Unified local Church in Ukraine this Union will be the largest, as will be composed of the UOC-KP, UAOC and the individual bishops of the UOC-MP.

In an interview with “Ukrainian truth” said the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate, Patriarch Filaret.

“If we can get Tomos, the Ukrainian Church will be United. And not just one – and the biggest. Now the Kyiv Patriarchate compared to Moscow twice,” he said.

According to Patriarch Filaret, “the rest of the Moscow Patriarchate should be called the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.”
