The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly protests against the new verdict to Ukrainian political prisoner Vladimir Baluku in the occupied Crimea.

The Ministry noted that the new sentence such as illegal and politically motivated as the previous one. “As revenge for the invincibility of the Ukrainian patriot, who in jail did not submit to the occupation regime, against Vladimir Baloga was fabricated another case in which his term of imprisonment increased to five years”, – outraged the Minister.

According to the Agency, the new verdict of the so-called trial showed that the situation with human rights on the Peninsula continues to deteriorate rapidly and there are serious grounds to believe that the health and life of Baloha and other Ukrainian political prisoners in danger.
“We demand from the state-aggressor and occupier to cease the violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms and immediately release Vladimir Baloga and other illegally detained Ukrainian citizens”, – said in a statement the foreign Ministry.
Recall Baluch hunger strike for over 100 days. Previously, he was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison on charges of alleged illegal possession of ammunition. Human rights activists believe that his repression of Pro-Ukrainian position, in particular for the Ukrainian flag displayed in his front yard. On 5 July he was sentenced to five years imprisonment and a fine for the alleged beating of the head of the detention center, although Baloch reports that it was the opposite.
On March 19 Baluch announced an indefinite hunger strike. Lawyer Olga Dinze said that Ukrainian activist during the hunger strike lost 30 kg of weight. The prisoner himself has repeatedly reported the abuse in the Simferopol SIZO.
