BP believe that the OSCE becomes “an instrument of Russian manipulation.”

The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on issues of freedom of speech accused the OSCE of “a direct provocation” for the invitation of Russian propagandists in Kiev for a conference on the work of the media.

This was announced on his page on Facebook MP Serhiy Vysotsky.

“Only the Committee on freedom of speech and information policy approved initiated me a statement about the inadmissibility of the involvement of the OSCE in the information war against Ukraine. With this statement we responded to a controversial conference in Kiev, where at the invitation of the OSCE was to speak Russian propagandists” – he stressed.

According to Vysotsky, on Friday, July 6, it shall meet in ordinary session of the OSCE parliamentary Assembly, where he will raise the issue of the activities of the OSCE representative on freedom of the media of ARIMA Désirat.

“The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on issues of freedom of speech and information policy draws attention to the inadmissibility of the involvement of such authoritative international organizations as the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in a hybrid war, which the Russian Federation is waging against Ukraine. One element of this war is the fact of negation of the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine, and, unfortunately, the OSCE, holding the international conference “enhancing the freedom and pluralism of the media in Ukraine during the conflict in the country and around it” repeats the clichés of Russian propaganda”, – the document says.

The Committee also noted that the title of the conference is “provocative and inappropriate,” because there is no “conflict”, but it has a place armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine and the annexation by the Russian Federation of the Ukrainian territory, in defiance of all international agreements, which was recognized by international organizations and most countries of the world.

“The Committee emphasizes that freedom of speech is a very important value for the Ukrainian society. Our Committee and the entire Ukrainian Parliament in the last four years has developed and adopted a number of very progressive laws in the field of information policy – the privatization of the print media, the creation of an independent public broadcasting, transparency of mediaconstruct, protection of the rights of journalists… the invitation to the OSCE conference Russian propaganda from the Russian media, which have repeatedly resorted to manipulation of information against Ukraine can be interpreted as a direct provocation”, – added in Department.

However, the Committee has called unacceptable the use of international conferences to organize provocations against the political prisoner of the Kremlin Oleg Sentsov, who is now on the brink between life and death as a result of Russian torture.

“We emphasize that the Russian Federation is one of the greatest threats to freedom of expression and democracy in the world. In addition, the Russian media turned into tools of propaganda and dissemination of fakes, aimed at inciting discrimination, hostility and violence that is felt by not only Ukraine, but also a number of other countries. The Committee emphasizes the need to preserve the world’s freedom of speech and freedom of the media. At the same time, you should not ignore the need to develop tools for the protection of democracy from information weapons, which poses a serious threat to human rights and world security. We always stood and will stand to protect the rights of journalists and freedom of speech in Ukraine. We call on the organizers of the conference, in particular, the OSCE Representative of Arlene Désirat more professional to investigate the situation relative to the hybrid effects of information order not to turn the OSCE into an instrument of Russian manipulation,” concluded the Committee.
