The Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine, Ernst Reichel visited the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine, where he was invited to explain himself after his controversial interview.

During the meeting, the German diplomat said about the inadmissibility of holding elections in the occupied territories of Donbass in the presence of Russian troops.
“Had confirmed a clear and consistent position of Ukraine that such elections should be held only after the withdrawal from Ukraine of the units of the Russian armed forces, as well as the creation of such prerequisites for the security, which would give the possibility of the Donbass free and democratic elections with the adherence to the OSCE standards and Ukrainian legislation”, – stated in the message.

However, the foreign Minister noted that Ukraine highly appreciates the efforts of official Berlin, including in the Normandy format, which is aimed at the return of peace to the Donbass and the cessation of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

“Occurred in the presence of the Western group of Soviet troops and the then Communist regime in the GDR. But the election led to his change,” he said.
