Increase funding for the Pentagon’s $ 54 billion by reducing spending on American diplomacy is unlikely to get approval of the upper house of the us Congress.
This was stated by the leader of the Republican majority in the U.S. Senate Mitch McConnell, reports The Hill.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that trump wants to increase by 10% the Pentagon’s budget by reducing appropriations by 37% to U.S. Department of State, including the Agency for international development (USAID).
According to Maccannell, this option is unlikely to be passed in the Senate, as it requires 60% of votes, has the support of democratic senators. He also added that “the diplomatic part of the Federal budget is also very important.”
