Canada wants Ukraine to open the arms market

The next step in development of cooperation in the defense sector between Canada and Ukraine will be the opening of the arms market.

This was stated by the Minister of defense of Canada harjit Sajjan, writes UKRINFORM.

“Relations between Canada and Ukraine are unique. The signing of the defense agreement will allow us to have a much more extensive and detail discussions on various topics. Therefore, the introduction of Ukraine in automatic control list of countries by firearms will be the next step,” said Sajjan.

But he didn’t say exactly when Ukraine will be able to buy canadian weapons. He added that the signing of the defense agreement is “very important step”.

Note that Automatic control list of countries by firearm (Automatic Firearms Country Control List) identifies the countries in which Canada allows domestic producers to supply weapons. Now it includes 35 countries, including Botswana, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Colombia, but there is no Ukraine.
