President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with delegation of European Parliament headed by Chairman of the foreign Affairs Committee, David McAllister.

Ukrainian guarantor thanked the members of the European Parliament for the adoption of the decision on introduction of visa-free regime with the EU for Ukrainian citizens.

“This decision was a clear confirmation of the strong support of the European Parliament, the European future of our country”, – said Poroshenko.
The participants of the meeting condemned recent Russian actions in the Donbass, aimed at destabilizing the situation and undermining the peace process.
Also, the Ukrainian President appreciated the active position of the European Parliament concerning the protection of human rights in the occupied Crimea and support for the de-occupation of the Peninsula.

The politicians discussed prospects of completing the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the way of realizing the potential of a free trade area, in particular the approval by the European Parliament on additional Autonomous trade preferences to Ukraine, as well as the issue of energy security of the European continent.

In addition, the parties noted the need for measures to improve the efficiency of countering Russian disinformation campaign in Europe.
We will remind, during a meeting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 6 April MEPs voted in favor of granting citizens of Ukraine the right to enter the EU without visas. For a decision voted 521 MEP, against 75, 36 deputies abstained.
On the eve till late in the evening continued the debate about bezveza – officials acknowledged that the Ukrainians fulfilled all the requirements to get the opportunity to travel to the EU freely.
Visa-free regime does not give the right to live or work permanently in the EU. It is valid only for short trips. Also to travel to Europe without a visa, you need to have the passport of the new sample — with the biometric chip.
