Immigrants are forced to return to ORDO due to lack of funds for food and shelter
Sociological research has revealed that 70% of immigrants from the Donbass have to return to ORDO due to lack of funds for rental housing and the inability to find a job.
It is reported by the international organization for migration, UN.
“More than half of the internally displaced persons who return, pensioners aged over 60 years,” reports the IOM.
The Agency draws the attention that the life in the ATO makes pensioners vulnerable not only physically, but also financially. Because pensions depend on the status of the immigrant and stay in controlled by Ukrainian authorities territories.

But in their homes in the Donbas, people it is extremely difficult to survive. Almost two-thirds of people who had gone back to the occupied territories, said that their income covers only the cost of food. In an average month in ORDO they earn $ 87 (2362 UAH). This is 26 dollars more than calculated by the Ministry of social policy and living wage (from 1 December 1762 UAH). However, almost a thousand hryvnia for less than minimum wage in Ukraine, which is 3.2 thousand UAH.
According to the International organization for migration, the number of migrants who have returned to ORDA increased by 3% in September.
“The primary issue for us is ensuring people’s access to humanitarian aid to support vulnerable groups of the population”, – said the head of IOM mission in Ukraine Thomas Weiss during his visit to the Ukrainian East last week.
