In Ukraine, there is the issue of raising gas prices, because that benefits the economy and is required by international creditors. This was stated by Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman.

“The issue of raising gas prices is very difficult. You know there’s a commitment that gas prices will rise with increasing world prices for gas. I have a year of this situation holding back, but now there is a question about the next increase,” – said the head of the Cabinet.

The price of gas for the population not to raise, at least until the end of the summer. Such decision was accepted today at the government meeting. Also, officials decided to increase production of its own gas. Stocks of fuel in Ukraine is sufficient to provide industry and the needs of the population as a whole, convinces Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman.

As it was reported. the head of the European Department of the IMF’s Paul Thomsen stated that Ukraine has made significant progress in achieving the objectives of the cooperation program with the Fund, however, for its successful continuation is necessary to avoid politicization of the issue concerning the formation of gas prices. “We are concerned that the price of energy has again become a political issue. In our opinion, it is very important that Ukraine returned to the policy of depoliticization of the decision-making process in the issue of energy prices,” – said Thomsen.
