The revenues from privatization of distilleries will be $ 5-6 billion.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft law on de-monopolization of the alcohol industry.
The decision was taken in the government meeting, UNIAN reports.
Introducing the document, Minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine Taras Kutovoy said that the Cabinet proposes to combine alcohol enterprises in the two groups and to privatize all the assets of the industry.
“If we take the decision (approval of the bill) will be historic,” said Kutovoy.
“The first group will include enterprises of greatest interest in the context of the vodka companies. They will have the right to produce alcohol and alcoholic products up to 2022”, – said the Minister.
The second group of enterprises, according to the Minister, will include manufacturers of industrial alcohol and bioethanol.
Kutovoi said that the power of the distilleries will be specified by decision of the government.
The income from the privatization of distilleries will be $ 5-6 billion, and the shadow turnover of alcohol will be reduced to 12% from current figure of more than 40%.
The Minister stressed that from January 1, 2023, the ethanol industry will be fully liberalized.
We will remind, the Cabinet of Ministers significantly increased the minimum price of vodka. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has increased the minimum retail price for vodka from UAH 55 to UAH 69,78. The corresponding decision was accepted at session of the government.
