Obama called trump to fight with Russia if necessary

I hope that the President-elect will find a constructive approach, Obama said.

President Barack Obama hopes that the new head of state, Donald trump will be able to resist Russia if necessary.

“I hope the elected President will take a similar constructive approach, finding areas in which we can cooperate with Russia. But he also needs to confront Russia when it deviates from international norms,” Obama said in Berlin.

Obama also said that he discussed with German Chancellor Angela Merkel the importance of maintaining sanctions against Russia until full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Referring to the situation in Syria, Obama said he believes it is unlikely to radically change the policy of Russia in this country. Obama again accused the Syrian government and the Russian military in the bombing of civilian targets in the country.

Recall that because of trump, who spoke in favor of normalizing relations with Russia, European leaders there is a fear that Washington’s policy after the accession of a Republican in office January 20, will differ from the policies of the Obama administration.
