This was stated during a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, the US representative to the OSCE Ambassador Daniel Baer, writes UKRINFORM.
“Russia has heightened tensions on the contact line in an attempt to wrest by force concessions from the Ukrainian side”, – said the representative of the United States. But, he said, the fighting is further complicated by the political progress of the Minsk agreements.
“If Russia really wants to reach agreement on modalities of local elections, Amnesty, on the special status, as well as in matters of decentralization, the path for this is very clear: we need to stop attacking Ukrainian forces, to withdraw heavy weapons and to provide full access of the SMM monitors on the entire territory of Ukraine, including in the border region with Russia,” said Baer.
The US representative stressed that combined Russian-separatist forces continue to violate the ceasefire and is responsible directly to the Russian leadership.
