To implement such a reform of the governing bodies, the UN should amend the Statute.

Permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko considers it unlikely that reform of the United Nations, in particular, deprivation of any of the permanent members of the Security Council veto.

This writes Radio Liberty.

“As for the veto, then we are not talking only about the Russian Federation, and all five members of the Security Council. If we were talking about the need to abolish the right of veto to one particular country, would be able to do it faster. But since this applies to all five countries, it is clear that never none of them voluntarily refused by such law. As previously discussed, rule the world,” – said Yelchenko.

To implement such a reform of the governing bodies, the UN should amend the Statute. Thus, changes need to be agreed by all 193 member countries, each of which subsequently have to ratify them.

Recall that earlier Poroshenko called for the abolition of the veto in the UN, so it does not become “an act of forgiveness for the crimes”.
