Russia and China blocked a UN security Council resolution on Aleppo

Russia and China has left the UN security Council veto on a draft resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

Against the document also spoke of Venezuela voted “for” 11 members of the security Council, including USA, UK and France. Angola abstained.

The draft resolution stipulates that combatants must “immediately and completely cease all attacks that can lead to death or injury to people or damage to civilian objects”, and detachments of the terrorist groups listed by the UN security Council, are obliged to leave the Eastern part of Aleppo. The document also proposed to introduce regular 48-hour pause in hostilities.

Before the vote, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin promised to block the draft resolution proposed by New Zealand, Spain and Egypt.

Earlier, the United Nations has warned that surrounded by part of the Eastern Aleppo could become a “giant cemetery” for more than 250 thousand civilians who were trapped there last week. Tens of thousands of people left the territory at the time.

France calls emergency UN security Council meeting over the situation in Aleppo, Syria

the French foreign Ministry wants to achieve the cessation of hostilities and deliver to the city of humanitarian assistance. Large areas in the East controlled by the opposition of the city captured Syrian government troops and their allies. The attack comes two weeks now. Human rights activists say that the victims of air strikes began two and a half hundreds of people in dozens of Eastern and in the Western part of Aleppo.
