Italian President accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Renzi
Elections are due in 2018.
Italian President Sergio Mattarella has accepted the resignation of Matteo Renzi as Prime Minister of the country, reports Reuters.
In the process of transition of power Mattarella offered Renzi to continue temporarily to perform the duties of the head of the Cabinet. On Thursday evening, December 8, will begin consultations on the future composition of the government.
After that, the President is expected to ask members of the present Cabinet or other politician from the Democratic party to try to form a new government. Elections are due in 2018, however, many politicians encourage them to hold informed.

Renzi took full responsibility for “extremely obvious” defeat in the referendum on constitutional reformsproposed by the government.
Italian authorities have launched an initiative to reduce the role of the upper house of Parliament, the Senate, as well as pick up some of the powers of the authorities of the regions. Against the draft reform voted 59,11% took part in the elections.
