In the first quarter of 2017 will sysreset the cost of Russian gas for Ukraine, as stipulated by the formula in the current contract of 2009. However, the exact price is still not know because I brought together all the indicators.
“According to the formula, probably, Yes, will be higher because there is a time lag. How – it is impossible to say, need to be at the end of the month to calculate by the formula” – said Russian energy Minister Alexander Novak, quoted by “Interfax”.
Recall that the price of a thousand cubic meters of Russian gas for Ukraine in the third quarter of 2016 was 167,57 dollar. Russia, however, only sets the prices – Ukraine buys gas from “Gazprom” for more than a year. The reason Moscow refuses to sign the additional agreement to the contract, which would have repealed the principle of “take-or-pay” (“take or pay”), under which Kiev will be forced to pay even for the “virtual” volume of gas that actually buys.
The head of “Naftogaz” Andrey KOBOLEV said that Ukraine will not buy Russian gas until the end of winter 2017. It was then that should be the decision of the Stockholm arbitration, considering bilateral gas where the claims of Ukraine and Russia. In particular, the Kyiv demands to cancel the same principle of “take-or-pay”. In case of victory of “Naftogaz” Ukraine will receive from Russia (if, of course, it will pay) to $ 20 billion. And this in turn will affect the price of gas for Ukrainians – it may fall in price in the second quarter of 2017.
