The head of state stressed that the implementation of the Agreement is a strategic interest for all parties.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko urged the Netherlands to complete all procedures to ensure the early entry into force of the Association Agreement EU-Ukraine.
About this he wrote on his page in Facebook.
“The provisional application of the Agreement has already brought a number of positive results that are recognized by the European Union. Ukraine expects to continue aid and support from the EU, including the Netherlands, to further the implementation of the Agreement is a strategic interest for all sides,” – said Poroshenko.
According to the President, the principled position of Ukraine managed to defend, in particular, to prevent new negotiations with uncertain temporal perspective, not to allow any changes to the text of the Agreement, as well as his re-ratification by all member countries.
“We appreciate the efforts of EU leaders with the aim of reaching agreement on a decision, which paves the way for long-awaited completion of the ratification of the European Union Association Agreement. This was a necessary step needed to achieve our common goal, namely the preservation of the Association Agreement with the EU,” he said.
Earlier, in the Netherlands threatened to refuse to ratify the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. One of the requirements of the EU must declare that the Association agreement with Ukraine does not mean additional obligations or security of a financial nature. The Netherlands also need to recognize that the agreement will provide the Ukrainians the right to freely live and work in the EU. One of the most controversial points – and he still is not agreed, concerns the possible membership of Ukraine in EU.
After that, the EU leaders agreed with the requirements of the Netherlands concerning the Association Agreement with Ukraine. However, even this is no guarantee that the Parliament will ratify the Agreement.
