The government imposed a state of emergency in the energy sector

On Tuesday, February 15, at an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to introduce the emergency state in the electricity market.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman again condemned the blocking of the supply of anthracite coal from territories not controlled by the government.

“I believe that the blockade of the coal is a crime. At least with regard to coal, the rest I can not judge”, he said.

Groisman also urged the participants of the blockade to remove it because it threatens Ukraine’s energy security.

“Everything, please, block, control, fight against smuggling and in this matter you can count on me,” said the Prime Minister.

We will remind, the siege train captured by militants of Donbass has been ongoing for a few weeks. Fighters and community activists blocked the movement of freight trains in the direction of Lugansk, on the border with the occupied Horlivka. Their main demand – the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war, to stop trading with the militants and to recognize the occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions occupied.

The veteran informed the blockade has condemned the management of the state – in particular, strongly opposed by Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman. SBU noted that the trade embargo has caused the government huge losses. But in support of the campaign had been supported by some MPs.

February 13, acting Director of Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk noted that the state of emergency in the energy sector will allow to stretch the coal reserves for 40 days.

According to him, as of the morning of 13 February, the total reserves of anthracite coal on all of the TPP amounted to 842 thousand tonnes. He noted that medium-term consumption of anthracite coal group in recent years is about 30 thousand tons per day.
