Merkel stated problems in the implementation of the Minsk agreements

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the lack of formal grounds for the implementation of the political part of Minsk agreements on settlement of the situation in the East of Ukraine.

She said this during a security conference in Minsk, Interfax reports.

“I understand the situation that there are two big problems. The Minsk agreement came from the fact that we are the first day after the cease-fire will take all political steps. But then failed to ensure a ceasefire in the period more than 3-4 days. Therefore, from a formal point of view, we are not yet able now to start a political process”, – said the Chancellor of Germany.

In addition, Merkel said that Ukraine has declared its readiness to discuss this issue and also undertook the obligation to start the implementation of the political, chastitiy.

However, according to Merkel, the Minsk agreement should remain despite the problems with their implementation, writes “European true”.

“Not all points of the Minsk done, but we need to work on their implementation. We must achieve long-term cease-fire,” she said.

Angela Merkel, in particular, noted that Russia’s actions against Ukraine are unacceptable.

“A key principle of territorial integrity was violated. So we have to act very strongly to maintain world order,” she said.

Recall that the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel stated that the annexation of Crimea by Russia has made NATO extremely important in Europe. Therefore, its presence in the Alliance should increase in the Eastern member States.
