Ukraine has repaid almost 96 million of debt, but still have 20 times more

Over the past year from the state budget of Ukraine allocated almost UAH 96 billion for maintenance of state and state-guaranteed debt: 62.6 billion UAH were directed at reducing the domestic debt, another 33.3 billion is external.

Expenses increased by UAH 11.3 billion or by 13.4% compared to the year 2015, when the rate of debt service amounted to 84.5 billion UAH. Such data are cited by the state Treasury, reports UNIAN.

Public debt repayment in 2016 amounted to 111.4 billion, which is 3.7 times lower than in 2015 (416,6 billion UAH). It is also reported that government borrowing last year amounted to 307, 7 billion UAH, which is 1.7% below the figure for the previous year at the level 514,1 billion.

In the state Treasury to assure that the repayment of debt and payment of percent in 2016 was carried out on time and according to the schedule of the Ministry of Finance.

Recall that the total public and publicly guaranteed debt of Ukraine in 2016, rose by 8.3 per cent to 70.97 billion, or UAH equivalent of 22.7% to 1,930 trillion UAH (that is, 20 times more than was repaid last year), which corresponds to the limits of the annual budget. This represents 81.8% of Ukraine’s GDP last year.
