The United Nations admit a more serious confrontation in the Donbass
The UN reported that the situation in the Donbas could grow into a more serious confrontation that could seriously threaten regional and international peace and security.
This was stated by UN Secretary-General, antónio Guterres, reports UKRINFORM.
“In Ukraine the ongoing tragic conflict shows that violence at the local level may potentially turn into a more serious confrontation. And that can have geopolitical consequences, which could undermine regional and international peace and security,” said Guterres.
According to him, all the “must collectively be preserved and strengthened based on international standards in order to maintain peace and security under the UN Charter”.
Guterres stressed that the UN continues to support the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
He expressed support for “Norman Quartet” and the Trilateral contact group of the OSCE SMM and urged to implement the Minsk agreements.
