The UN Secretary General and the security Council must be more proactive in resolving conflicts – Klimkin
Ukraine believes that all of the key structures of the UN, including the Secretary General and the Security Councilcan be more proactive and efficient in the process of resolving modern conflicts.
This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, writes UKRINFORM.
The Ukrainian diplomat believes that the Secretary should draw the attention of the security Council on the threat of the event, not to pull away.
“None of these tools were not used in 2008 (during the aggression of Russia against Georgia. – ed.) or in 2014 (the beginning of the aggression of Russia against Ukraine. – ed.), the previous Secretary-General”, – said Mr. Klimkin.
“The Secretary-General could elaborate options for political presence and the presence of security of the UN in Ukraine and on ways of cooperation with the OSCE,” said Klimkin.

We will remind that earlier the UN Security Council after a discussion of aggravation of the situation in the East of Ukraine, including – and in Avdiivka, adopted a press statement proposed by the Ukrainian side.
The members of the Security Council expressed serious concern at the dangerous deterioration of the situation in Eastern Ukraine and its severe consequences for the local civilian population.
