Russia has reduced the pressure in the pipe of the transit of gas to a record low – “Naftogaz”

The last few days of the Russian “Gazprom” keeps the pressure in its gas transport system near the border with Ukraine at a record low. Through this pipe gas is transited through Ukraine to Europe.

“Gazprom” continues to violate the terms of the transit contract. In the last days the specialists of PJSC “Ukrtransgaz” record significant pressure drop in the Russian gas transmission system on a gas metering station “Sudzha”, the main entry point to the Ukrainian gas transport system with Russia. As of 08:00 on Tuesday (28 February) the pressure level on GIS “Sudzha” fell to a record low in recent years 49.7 ATM is specified by the contract 60,0 ATM”, – stated in the message “Naftogaz”.

Ukrainian company noted that Gazprom is violating the terms of the transit contract with regard to the maximum level of daily fluctuations in applications for gas extraction at the outlet points of the gas transportation system of Ukraine, which shall not exceed 4,5% for item in Uzhgorod, but in separate days of February, this figure was exceeded twice the norm. In addition, in some periods of the current month the quality of gas fed into the Ukrainian GTS from Russia, did not meet physico-chemical parameters stipulated by the contract.”

In “Naftogaz” noted that the systematic non-compliance with Gazprom’s transit contract may lead to disruptions of gas supplies in the European direction.

“Despite the artificially created barriers by the Russian side, the Ukrainian side continues to provide a stable supply of gas to Europe. All applications are importers of Russian gas are performed in time. In the framework of the rapid reaction mechanism, the European Commission received operational message referring to the sudden reduction of pressure on GIS “Sudzha”. “Naftogaz of Ukraine” and the European Commission are concerned about the situation because of the failure of the Russian party of its contractual obligations, and expect from “Gazprom” for explanations and remedy the situation for stable gas supply to European consumers”, – noted in “Naftogaz”.

Meanwhile, the Russian Gazprom increased gas prices for the European Union to 180-190 dollars per thousand cubic meters. This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the company Alexander Medvedev, writes “RIA Novosti”. Last year a thousand cubic meters of Russian gas to consumers in the EU costs an average of 167 dollars, and market share in the EU increased from 31% in 2015 to 34% in 2016.

Meanwhile, gas in Europe has become cheaper than Russian and therefore local consumers refuse the services of “Gazprom”.
