The UN high Commissioner dared to compare the “passport” ORDO documents of the League of Nations

The UN high Commissioner for refugees Filippo Grandi recently visited Moscow where he held meetings with the foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Minister of emergency situations Vladimir Puchkov.

Following the talks, Grande in an interview with the resource Komersanti refused to compare the recognized Russia’s so-called”passport” ORDO with Nansen, who at one time gave the refugees the League of Nations.

So, the question of a Russian journalist about whether the documents ARDLE become something of Nansen, Grande replied:

“I don’t know. On the one hand, it is important that people have the documents. But, on the other hand, it is impossible that steps had been taken, which complicate the Minsk peace process. I’m not saying this so please don’t get me wrong. But we must remember that the main task — to reach a settlement”.

While Grandi stressed that the League of Nations gave the documents to stateless persons, that is not true of the inhabitants ORDO.

“And then, Nansen passports were issued to stateless persons without documents. And they were given a League of Nations,” he added.

We will remind, on Saturday, February 18, the second day of the Munich security conference where world leaders urged Russia to fulfill the Minsk agreements and de-escalation of the conflict in the Donbass, the press service of the Kremlin reported about the signing by Vladimir Putin of the decree about recognition of the so-called “passports” ARDLA.

President Petro Poroshenko said in response that while recognizing the “passport”, “DNR” and “LNR”, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin once again confirmed that the occupation of Donbass under the control of the militants-separatists, and the Kremlin directly.

The legalization of so-called “passports” terrorist “LNR” and “DNR” was condemned by the international community, in particular negatively spoke at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and the OSCE, calling such actions a violation of the Minsk agreements, and explosion of peace efforts in Ukraine.
