When will the visa-free regime between the EU and Ukraine

On Tuesday, February 28, representatives of the European Parliament, EU Council and European Commission agreed on the introduction of visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens. But this does not mean that from tomorrow, the Ukrainians will be able freely to travel to Europe.

First, this decision must be confirmed at the Committee of permanent representatives of countries-members of EU, meeting will be held on Thursday, March 2. The journalist of “Radio Liberty” Rikard Jozwiak reports that should still be held the second round of approval, and it will not happen before may.

Then the decision on visa-free regime with Ukraine should accept the European Parliament – at least 55% of the countries. Then the EU Council at the Ministerial level, here also do not have the consent of all.

Their signatures under the document have put the President of the European Parliament and representatives of the Council. The document must be published in the Official journal of the EU. Then another 20 days to the decision entered into force. Legally, Ukraine simply takes from the so-called “black list” of countries whose citizens need a visa to enter the EU, not the “white” that travel without visas.
