The German foreign Minister sees no possibility to weaken the anti-Russian sanctions

Foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, said Wednesday that while there has been no progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreement on Eastern Ukraine. This means that while there is no question of cancellation of sanctions against Russia.

“There are no shifts, therefore we are not able to remove sanctions, despite the fact that probably everyone in Europe willing to improve relations with Russia”, – said the German Minister.

Note that the statement by Sigmar Gabriel came on the eve of his first visit to Ukraine. Foreign Minister of Germany will be in Kiev on March 2-3, he will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Paul Klimkin, and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, reports Deutsche Welle.

It is expected that the meetings attention will be paid to the situation in the Donbas and the ways of implementation of the Minsk agreements.
