Visa-free regime for citizens of Ukraine from the European Union may enter into force already this summer. So says the head of the representative office of our country to the EU Nikolay Tochitskii, UNIAN reports.
“From today’s vote of the Committee until the entry into force, that is, when a citizen of Ukraine is taking biometric passport and cross the border without a visa, will still be five procedural steps. They have certainty in two to four weeks,” he explained.
According to Tochicago, procedural issues will not prevent execution of the visa-free regime for Ukrainians, but may have some effect on the timing of its execution. “We came to the finish line. We do not exclude that this summer will be the entry into force and, accordingly, the use of this visa-free regime,” – said the diplomat.
As reported, on March 9 the Committee on civil liberties, justice and home Affairs of the European Parliament supported the text of the legislative act on the granting Ukraine visa-free regime, which was agreed in the framework of inter-institutional negotiations. It is expected that the European Parliament vote for Beavis for Ukraine on April 5.
