The situation with the roads this year – the worst in recent times. This was stated by head of “Ukravtodor” Slawomir Nowak in interview to Agency “Interfax-Ukraine”.

“This is the worst situation, and she arose due to the fact that in recent years, the road just has not been repaired. If the roads 170 thousand km, and in the year was repaired 400 km, that’s the result. No need to be a genius to understand it”, – he said.
He also added that air temperatures for the winter passed through zero 53 times.
“Everyone who is taught in school physics, understands what happens to water when changes in temperature and how it destroys the road. In Poland – the same weather conditions, just where the roads are in better condition and repairs are using the latest technologies. This year we have more than 12 million square meters of holes on roads. Experts suggest the increase of yamochnost in the spring to 18 million sq m of Funds to date we have 6 million sq. m. In case of additional funding of $ 1 billion – in total, enough for 8 million sq. m. Thus, a minimum of 4 million square metres of the pits will remain,” – said Novak.
He did not rule out that next year the situation may worsen.
“Maybe so. I don’t want to deceive anyone: there is no money for patching in the required amount, there is a problem in the media and on the average repair. If we want in 5-10 years to solve the problem of holes on the roads, you need to repair the entire network. If we fix 5-6 thousand miles a year, well, in 10 years we’ll forget about the pits, but we still have a problem with further repairs. This is a continuous process,” – said the head of “Ukravtodor”.

While Novak said that if in the current year “Ukravtodor” will have a real additional funds for road repairs promised in the amount of 15 billion UAH, it will be possible to talk about capital construction in the future.
“But if they give us the money in the second half of the year with the condition of exploration to the end of the year. I can tell the Minister of Finance: if this money will give us in June with a condition of development by the end of the year, it is better just not to select. Time is needed for tendering, selection of contractor. In conversation with the Prime Minister, I clearly said that if the Agency gets the money quickly – they will be disbursed, if not, nothing happens. A simple solution to this situation lies in the fact that the funds were passed on to the next year. Then to start work will be in this year and continue on to the next. It would be good, would allow a smooth transition to the Road Fund”, – said Novak.
Earlier, the Minister of infrastructure Vladimir Omelian reported that 95 percent of the roads in Ukraine are in disrepair, and to put in order last year, had 1 percent. This year needs to shift up to two and a half thousand kilometres of roads and to repair eighty bridges.
