Poroshenko abolished the inheritance tax for some family members

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed amendments to the Tax code to simplify the taxation of inheritance.

About it reported in a press-service of the head of state.

“President Petro Poroshenko has signed the Law of Ukraine No. 1910-VIII “On amendments to the Tax code of Ukraine regarding the taxation of inheritance,” which simplifies the probate to next of kin of the deceased”, – stated in the message.

According to the law, now exempt from taxation by the tax to incomes of physical persons of the value of the inheritance, which the testator receive the members of his family of the second degree: brothers and sisters, grandmother, grandfather and grandchildren.

Note, to date the current Tax code allows not to pay tax to the family members of the deceased only the first line of kinship.

Besides, the document notes that the heirs of the first and second stages are also exempt from the necessity of assessment of inherited heritage for tax purposes.

For all other heirs, the tax remains at 5%. The law shall enter into force on the day following the day of its publication, and applies to income in the form of an inheritance or a gift received from 1 January 2017.

Note, Parliament adopted the document on February 23 in the second reading and in General by 278 votes.

We will remind, earlier Poroshenko has signed amendments to the law on the work of individuals-entrepreneurs (FOP)for which they will pay taxes under the new rules.
