NABU announced details of a large-scale searches in the Odessa city Council
On Friday, March 24, detectives of the National anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Specialised anti-corruption prosecutors conducted several searches in Odessa. In particular, they already went to the city Council.
“Investigations carried out within the framework of pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings on the fact of appropriation of funds of the local budget in especially large sizes officials of the local government acting in collusion with representatives of the commercial sector. We are talking about the sale of the administrative building of the city hall of Odessa at inflated prices”, – explained in NABOO.
During the pre-trial investigation, the detectives NAB has established that the building in the whole property complex of state enterprise “Plant “region” in early 2016 sold for 11 million UAH. And six months later, in August 2016, the building received a separate address, and it re-sold for 4 million UAH. A month later, in September, the new owner suggested that the building of the Odessa city hall at a price that is 46 times higher than the one on which I bought for 185 million. The transaction of sale took place in December.
“Discovered signs of a crime and timely blocking of funds in the accounts of the society, on behalf of which made the sale of the building at an inflated price, made possible thanks to the active civic position of inhabitants of the city of Odessa, and a number of people’s deputies of Ukraine and public organizations, which promptly turned to NABOO, statements about the crime, in its Commission. Pre-judicial investigation on these facts the detectives Bureau began in November last year. Now investigative actions proceed,” said NABU.
