The European Union urged the authorities of the Kremlin to release all the detained participants of the protest against corruption, which took place on Sunday, March 26. This is stated in the press service of the EU delegation to Russia.

As noted, the detention of hundreds of protesters, including opposition leader Alexey Navalny, is contrary to the realization of basic freedoms – of expression, Association and peaceful Assembly, which are enshrined in the Constitution of Russia.
“We urge the Russian authorities to fully respect international obligations, including to the Council of Europe and the OSCE to defend the right of people, and without delay the release of detained peaceful demonstrators,” – said in a statement.
