Lavrov saw “linguistic genocide” in Ukraine

The Ministry of foreign Affairs said about “linguistic genocide” of Russian-speaking population of Ukraine.

This was stated by the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, reports UNIAN.

“In fact, in the country at the state level introduces linguistic genocide… the Official government continues to total de-Russification and forced Ukrainization of the country. After an absolutely odious laws which have deprived the Russian speaking population in Ukraine of the right to receive objective information in their native language for them, the Kiev authorities are going to actually legalize a ban for Russian language”, – said Zakharov.

In particular, it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada introduced a draft law on the state language. The official stressed that this document provides for “the mandatory use of the Ukrainian language in all spheres of daily life.”

“The adoption of such documents means the actual legalization of forced Ukrainization of the country, institutionalized the struggle not only with the Russian language and culture, but also the languages of other ethnic groups living in Ukraine. This legislative work is nothing more than a tool for the restriction of rights and suppression of dissent,” – said Zakharov.

Crimean pseudocapacity complained to the Kremlin by Ukraine “genocide”

We will remind, in October 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted that Russia was forced to protect the Russian speaking population in the Donbas and in the Crimea.

“I emphasize that we had to protect the Russian speaking population in the Donbass, were forced to respond to the desire of people who live in Crimea to rejoin Russia”, – Putin said.

At the same time he was indignant that the West immediately began to roll out “a new flywheel anti-Russian policy and the imposition of sanctions.”
