Poroshenko agreed with Merkel on tripartite negotiations on the Donbass

The result of the meeting of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Malta was the agreement on a trilateral telephone conversations between members of the so-called Normandy format, with the exception of Russia. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

Poroshenko explained that the conversation is intended to strengthen the Minsk peace process and it will take place in the near future. “We had very thorough talks with the German Chancellor. We agreed that in the beginning of next week will be held telephone talks in a trilateral format with the participation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President françois Hollande devoted to enhancing the processes in the Minsk format”, – said the Ukrainian leader.

He also noted that the issue of Ukraine is now one of the most important issues for Europe, and it is felt in communicating with media representatives on the basis of participation in the summit of the European people’s party. Poroshenko stressed that during the meetings in Malta addressed the issues about introduction of a visa-free regime for Ukrainians, the ratification of the Association agreement EU-Ukraine and provide the country macro-financial assistance.
