Poroshenko discussed with Merkel and Hollande the situation in the Donbass

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and President of France Francois Hollande.

About it reports a press-service of the head of state.

Poroshenko condemned the aggression by the Russian Federation and continuation of shelling by the Russian military and insurgents using heavy weapons, despite the announcement of “silence mode” from 1 April.

The sides noted the need to consolidate the ceasefire.

Also, the Ukrainian President stressed the importance of the release of all hostages, who are in the occupied Donbas and in Russia.

Poroshenko, Hollande and Merkel reaffirmed the importance of further work towards implementation of the Minsk agreements.

In addition, the President thanked Merkel and Hollande for his support in the introduction of a visa-free regime for Ukrainians.

We will remind, on 29 March in Minsk the Trilateral contact group agreed on full compliance with the cease-fire regime in ATO area in the Donbas since April 1. Then the Ministry of defence of Ukraine declared that is ready to carry out the agreement, and on 30 March the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the General staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of defense ceasefire.

Despite the agreement, the militants continue to fire position forces ATO.
