The government decided on the term of the moratorium on land sales

The market sale of agricultural land may begin to act in Ukraine in 2018. At least, that the International monetary Fund promised the Ukrainian government.

Signatures under the updated Memorandum of cooperation with the IMF was signed by the President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman, Minister of Finance Oleksandr danylyuk, the head of national Bank Valeria Gontareva.

“To promote the growth potential in Ukraine remains an important liberalization of the land market, including the sale of agricultural land. To this end, we established a working group involving relevant ministries, in cooperation with the world Bank will develop a bill to open the land market to allow the sale of land under proper precautions,” the document reads.

The Verkhovna Rada before the end of may 2017 should adopt a relevant law on circulation of agricultural land.

“Allowing the current moratorium on sale of agricultural land to lose force as of the end of 2017, thus allowing the sale of land under state and private ownership, immediately afterwards. We also run an awareness campaign for the public to explain the benefits of this reform”, – stated in the Memorandum.

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has assured that the bill on the land market will provide that buying the land will be entitled only to Ukrainians (physical persons).

Recall that in Ukraine before the end of 2017 the moratorium on sale of agricultural land. Law on land market is still not adopted. The Ministry of Agriculture propose first to enter the market land sales, and the market long-term lease.
