Also note that the purpose of this action is to return the historical name of the Avenue. Expect that its adoption will contribute to the restoration and preservation of historically established place names of Kiev.

So far the project is consideration of the two relevant committees.

Note that the Victory Avenue — one of the longest highways of Kiev (11.8 km), stretches from the Victory square to the Brest-Litovsk highway.

Prospect is known from the first half of the nineteenth century as Zhytomyr and Kyiv-Brest highway. Since the late nineteenth century was called the highway Brest-Litovsk, in the years 1964-1985 — Brest-Litovskiy Prospekt. The current name of the Avenue has received since 1985.

We will remind, in February, the Commission of the Council on renaming supported the idea of renaming the metro station “Petrovka” with “Pochayna”.
