Four countries joined Eurosystem against Russia

Four countries acceded to the EU Council decision to extend until 15 September 2017 sanctions against citizens of Ukraine and Russia, which were imposed because of threats to the territorial integrity of Ukraine

This is stated in the statement of the EU high representative for foreign and security policy Federica Mogherini.

“The candidate countries for EU membership by Montenegro and Albania member of the European economic area Norway, as well as Ukraine acceded to the decision of the EU Council,” – said in a statement. These countries undertook to ensure the conformity of their national policies to the decision of the EU Council.

Recall that on 13 March, the EU Council extended until 15 September 2017 restrictive measures in the form of a visa ban and assets freeze against individuals and agencies for their actions with infringement of and a threat to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

We will remind, in the joint statement of Ministers of foreign Affairs of the countries “the Big seven” it is noted that the term of validity of the sanctions against Russia are clearly associated with full implementation of Russian commitments under the Minsk agreements and respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty. Countries “Big seven” stressed the need for the withdrawal of foreign armed forces and equipment from Ukrainian territory, returning to Ukraine border control and secure access and provision of humanitarian assistance. Countries “Big seven” also confirmed the non-recognition and condemnation of the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia.
