“Russia should withdraw troops”: the OSCE PA adopted a resolution on sovereignty of Ukraine

The OSCE parliamentary Assembly adopted the proposed by the Ukrainian delegation to the resolution on “the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”.

Russia strongly opposed the adoption of the resolution, however, the document was adopted.

Then the head of the Russian delegation, Vice-speaker of the “Duma” of the Russian Federation Pyotr Tolstoy called for a vote against the adoption of all of the Minsk Declaration. By a majority vote of the motion was rejected.

In the resolution “Recovery of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the OSCE PA expresses its “full respect for the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, which include the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol”.

Also in the document of the OSCE PA said “the condemnation of the temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol by the Russian Federation and hybrid aggression of Russia against Ukraine at the Donbass, which continues.”

In addition, the resolution of the OSCE PA “urges the Russian Federation to stop sponsoring terrorist activities in Ukraine with the influx of fighters, funds and weapons to the government through uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian state border and to stop all support to illegal armed groups in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine, who are committing terrorist acts in Ukraine.”

The document also contains the appeal to Russia “to ensure the withdrawal of their armed forces, military equipment and mercenaries from the territory of certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine under the supervision of the OSCE, as well as disarmament of all illegal armed groups”.

Russia strongly opposed the adoption of the resolution. This document will be included in the final Minsk Declaration.

We will remind, several dnamic earlier, namely on 7 July, the OSCE parliamentary Assembly at the 26th annual session in Minsk adopted a resolution provisions in support of Ukraine entitled “Strengthening mutual trust and cooperation for peace and prosperity in the OSCE region”. In it, the OSCE PA also called on Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory.
