The Council of the European Union adopted the extended trade preferences for Ukraine

Monday, July 17, the Council of the European Union adopted the decision on granting Ukraine the additional trade preferences.

This decision was made at the meeting of the Council agriculture and fisheries, reports UNIAN.

Previously on the extension of preferences for Ukraine agreed by the European Parliament. In particular, should be increased quotas for tomatoes, wheat, corn and honey, but not to the extent as earlier proposed by the European Commission, the urea from the proposals excluded.

In particular, established the following annual quotas: for honey – 2,5 thousand tons of processed tomato – 3 thousand tons, wheat – 65 thousand tons, corn – 625 thousand tons, barley – 325 thousand tons.

Preferences have to enter in the autumn term of three years, as a Supplement to the Agreement on the establishment of deep and comprehensive free trade area.

We will remind, in September the European Commission proposed to raise the import quotas on some Ukrainian goods. In particular, corn – 650 thousand tons, wheat – by 100 thousand tons, barley – 350 thousand tons, cereals and processed grain – by 7.8 thousand tons, oats – by 4 thousand tons, copper – by 3 thousand tons, grape juice 500 tons of processed tomatoes – 5 thousand tons.
