Poroshenko told a wonderful story of how Georgia saved the family of his wife

Relatives of first lady of Ukraine Maryna Poroshenko saved from starvation by the residents of Tbilisi.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a state visit to Georgia.

“Few people know that the great-grandfather of my wife in 1933, saving a family from starvation, was forced to leave Tbilisi. Georgia saved my wife’s family from starving to death,” he said.

According to the Ukrainian President, and later his wife’s grandmother – Anna Nadezhdina, in 1943, was in Stalingrad and was evacuated to Tbilisi.

“And she lived in Tbilisi, on the street Krasnoarmeyskaya, 28A, I don’t know how she is now called, but we will try to find this house and thank the people who saved my wife’s family. It remains in generations,” – said Poroshenko, adding that it forms the solid Foundation of trust and friendship.

Subsequently, my wife’s grandmother, once in 1943 in Stalingrad were evacuated to Tbilisi. These stories are a solid Foundation of trust and friendship between the peoples of Ukraine and Georgia. So today we count on each other.

We will remind, earlier Ukraine and Georgia signed an agreement on strategic partnership and cooperation in the field of education. The country signed a Declaration on mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity.
