Sytnik insists on creating anti-corruption court this year

Anti-corruption reform in Ukraine will be threatened if the delay in the establishment of anti-corruption court.

This was stated by the Director of the National anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine Sytnyk 27 September during a panel discussion regarding the perception of corruption and evaluation of corruption risks in the judicial system.

“Now is the best time to ensure that the President has submitted to Parliament a draft law which will regulate the peculiarities of formation and activity of the Higher anti-corruption court (SACU). What will be the position of the authorities in this matter depends, will the anti-corruption bodies to hold a joint achievements”, — said Artem Sytnik.

He also recalled the existence of a shared vision for building the VASA, prompted by international and Ukrainian experts .

According to her, the Highest anti-corruption court will hear cases in the first instance. In its composition to guarantee the rights of citizens to appeal against sentence will operate the appeals chamber. For appeal consideration it is proposed to create a separate anti-corruption chamber in the Criminal court of cassation of the Supreme Court of Ukraine.

As a reminder, as of 31 August 2017 26 of the 86 cases referred to the NEB and SAP to court, remain without consideration.
