Lavrov categorically rejected UN peacekeepers on the border with the occupied Donbass
Russia is not going to allow UN peacekeepers on the entire territory of Donbas and the overlap of Ukrainian-Russian border in ORDA.
About it in interview to the edition “Kommersant” said Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin.
He stated that the concept of relative Russian peacekeepers in the Donbass is that the blue helmets were protecting OSCE staff and guarantee their safety.
“We see attempts to change this concept towards the introduction of some external administration in the South-East with the overlapping of the border between Donbass and Russia. This can not be considered. Russia would never allow it,” – said Karasin.
He added that the issue concerning the introduction of peacekeepers in Donbass there are still a lot of diplomatic work.
Karasin asked why Russia considers that the overlap of the Ukrainian-Russian border in the Donbas will lead to mass atrocities and massacres like Srebrenica during the war in the former Yugoslavia. After Slavyansk was liberated from the terrorists and the people there live normally.
“They belong to the population of Donbass as second-class citizens who do not deserve to be called Ukrainians, compared to cockroaches, which should be poisoned with chemicals. Can you imagine what would happen if you cut off the inhabitants of Donbass from the boundary of the support, moral and humanitarian, which now is the length of our border with the Luhansk and Donetsk regions”, – said without argument, the Deputy foreign Minister of Russia.
We will remind, earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appealed to the UN initiative to deploy a peacekeeping mission in the Donbas. The Ukrainian side insists that the peacekeepers should be present throughout the occupied territory of Donbas, including Ukrainian-Russian state border.
Americans believe that the UN peacekeeping mission can contribute to the end of the war in the Donbass, however, the path to blue helmets in the region is not simple. “If we introduce a peacekeeping force, we must remember that Russia is a party to the conflict. And this means that it cannot participate in the peacekeeping operation, “- said the former adviser to NATO on defense Evelyn Farkas
